Project: Control Center Steekterpoort
Industry: Infrastructure
Location: Alphen a/d Rijn
Client: Nobel Bouwbedrijf BV
Installer: Baas BV
Steekterpoort, the most sustainable bridge control center in the Netherlands, serves approximately thirty provincial and municipal bridges in the area of Alphen a/d Rijn. Baas BV bought MCT Brattberg frames and blocks from Theunissen Technical Trading BV for this.
The Steekterpoort control center, located south of the Gouwesluis lift bridge near Alphen a/d Rijn, was built to allow road and waterway traffic to flow through in a faster, safer and more reliable manner. Both commercial and recreational vessels are present on the Gouwe, but especially due to the arrival of the Overslag Terminal Alphen (OTA), a safer situation was desired between the aqueduct and the railway bridge. The OTA caused extra shipping traffic on the Gouwe.
The design of Stitchterpoort is ecologically responsible and energy neutral. Recyclable materials (cradle to cradle) were used as much as possible during the development. Once operational, the center will also provide for its own energy needs and there will be no CO2 emissions. This minimizes the impact on the environment and the environment.
