Project: Audacia (refit, formerly Geeview)
Sector: Dredging industry
Yard: Kippah Verolme
Client: Allseas
Installer: Alewijnse Marine, Cofely West industry, Imtech Marine & Offshore

In the autumn of 2007, Audacia, the world’s largest pipelayer, went into service. It is the fourth pipelay vessel of Allseas, a company specializing in technical services to the offshore, oil and gas industry. The Audacia includes MCT Brattberg’s waterproof cable transits.

The Audacia is over 220 meters long and 32 meters wide. Initially the ship was designed for bulk transport and built for fast sailing. Thanks to Heerema’s inspiration, the ship can take advantage of the old hull shape at the speed of the bulk carrier. Completely new accommodation has been placed on this bulk carrier for a crew of 240. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with a complete pipe welding and laying installation and with the help of advanced electronics, including dynamic positioning, the ship remains exactly in place.

In addition to MCT Brattberg’s waterproof and fire-retardant transit products, Theunissen Technical Trading BV (TTT) supplied products specially developed for the maritime industry. For example, TTT supplied ship lighting from Glamox Aqua Signal, a communication system
